The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) said last night that scattered thunderstorms and showers would continue over the northeast, southeast, southwest and the central mountains as a low-pressure trough passes over the island. In the meantime, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) has lifted its yellow alerts for flooding and landslides for the provinces of Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris, especially the Lower Yuna Basin), La Vega, Monsignor Nouel (Bonao), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui) and Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Santiago and Espaillat (Moca). Nonetheless, they did maintain the green alert for La Vega, Monsignor Nouel, Sanchez Ramirez and Santiago. According to Onamet, rains for the next 48 hours are not expected to be heavy.
