According to Central Electoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario, by yesterday, Thursday 17 May, the JCE had issued more duplicate national voter identity cards (cedulas) than in 2008 and 2010 combined, with a total of 335,000, which is anticipated to reach 400,000.
Listin Diario quotes him as saying that each card costs the state RD$1,500 and that all of the centers had sufficient material to complete the task. More plastic, tape and material would be sent today, Friday 18 May. The JCE head called on people, who traditionally leave things to the last minute, to be patient calm and tolerant when having to wait in line.
