Business Week (Bloomberg), the Chicago Tribune (Reuters), focus on what "change" means in the lead-up to the Sunday, 20 May election in the Dominican Republic. With a former President, Hipolito Mejia trying for a comeback against the ruling party candidate, former Fernandez chief of staff Danilo Medina, the promise of change is contradictory in the election this year. Dominicans have evidence that many of the same questionable faces and key government men figures will continue or come back, regardless of who wins the election.

The media focus on the 7% continued growth of GDP of the Dominican Republic, now eight years under the Fernandez administration, and the fact that the First Lady, Margarita Cedeno is running for Vice President. It also focuses on how international polls seem to favor the PLD's Danilo Medina winning in a first round.

Dozens of international media outlets have received accreditations for covering the election.
