The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL) has dismissed rumors that suggest they will block access to the social networks and suspend data services in mobiles such as Blackberry as completely false.
They said that INDOTEL had always defended freedom of expression in the communications media and that the meeting between the president of INDOTEL, Dr. David Perez Taveras and the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Dr. Roberto Rosario on Tuesday 15 May was a routine conversation about the roles of both institutions in the electoral process, as reported in El Nuevo Diario.
