Yesterday, Thursday 17 May, the PLD closed their official electoral campaign with a mass rally headed by Danilo Medina and Margarita Cedeno, the candidates for President and Vice President, as well as President Leonel Fernandez.
The march began at around 4:15pm, and included government officials, senators, deputies and members of the PLD and their allies.
The convoy went from Nicolas de Ovando Avenue, at the corner with Duarte and ended in Juan Baron Square on George Washington Avenue (Malecon).
Danilo Medina assured supporters that he would win on 20 May and described the convoy as a political tsunami and an unprecedented event in the history of the Dominican Republic. He asked his supporters to vote without violence and without problems.
He did not use the loudspeaker that was waiting for him at the end of the rally, but spoke to the press from his vehicle, as reported in El Dia.
