The PLD and its allies with Danilo Medina as candidate won in the National District and in 16 provinces, while the PRD and its allies and candidate Hipolito Mejia won in 15 provinces. The final bulletin (No. 11) issued at 10:18pm on Monday, 21 May 2012, establishes that with all 14,470 polling stations reported, the PLD and its allies had 2,323,146 votes for 51.2% and the PRD and its allies had 2,129,991 votes for 46.95%, a difference of 193,155 votes, or 4.3%. Alianza Pais (Alpais) with Guillermo Moreno as candidate obtained 62,290 votes for 1.37%; Dominicans for Change (DxC) with Eduardo Estrella, obtained 9,340 votes (0.21%); the Frente Amplia, 6,550 votes (0.14%) while the candidate with the fewest votes was Max Puig of the Alianza por la Democracia with 5,064 (0.11%).

The PLD won Bahoruco, Barahona, Elias Pina, Espaillat (Moca), Hato Mayor, Independencia, La Romana, La Vega, Monte Plata, Pedernales, Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), San Cristobal, San Juan de la Maguana, San Pedro de Macoris, Santiago Rodriguez and Santo Domingo. In the National District, the PLD and its allies won with 289,210 votes, 54.82%.

The provinces that were won by the PRD were La Altagracia (Higuey), Azua, Dajabon, Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), El Seibo, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), Montecristi, Peravia (Bani), Puerto Plata, Samana, Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), Santiago, Valverde (Mao) and San Jose de Ocoa. In La Altagracia, the PRD won with 48,250 votes, 55.88%, and the PLD was in second place with 37,219 votes or 43.10%. In Azua, the PRD obtained 57,108 votes, 50.19% and the PLD 56,191, or 49.38%.
