Of 328,649 Dominicans registered to vote abroad, 129,359 actually did in the three circumscriptions, as reported in El Dia. These were No. 1 (Canada, United States with the exception of Miami), No. 2 (Miami, Panama, Venezuela, Curacao, Aruba and the Virgin Islands), and No. 3 (Europe). Dominican expats voted to elect for the PRD Jose Morel and Ruben Luna, 48.21% of the vote, in the Circumscription No. 1, and Edelys Olivares, 41.50%, in No. 2 and Agustin Mercedes, 42.57%, in No. 3.
For the PLD, Alfredo Rodriguez, 35.25%, was elected to represent North America, Levis Suriel, 43.36%, Miami and the Caribbean, and Marcos Cross, 49.38%, will represent Europe.
The overseas deputies are new to Dominican government and the posts were created in the 2010 constitutional revision. They were elected to represent expats in their area for four-year terms.
