Dominican David Ortiz was decisive yesterday, Monday 21 May, in the Boston Red Sox game against the Baltimore Orioles. He sparked the rally in the sixth inning with a monstrous homerun. Ortiz launched Boston's comeback from a three-run deficit with a mighty homerun, and the Red Sox banged out 14 hits in an 8-6 victory Monday night. That evening, every Red Sox starter had at least one hit, including Lin, his first in the majors.
Now the Red Sox have won nine of their last 11 games and, at 21-21, are at .500 for the first time since April 30, and are now tied for fourth place in the American League East, 5-1/2 games behind Baltimore.
"We've got to keep on playing," Ortiz said. "You know how people hit the panic button [in Boston]. I guess everybody got the memo," he told Boston reporters.
This is Ortiz's 10th home run so far this season, and his 30th run batted in.
