Campos de Moya, the new president of the British Chamber of Commerce has listed the three main goals for his term at the helm of the business group.

He wants to encourage the UK government to return to the practice of issuing visas to travel to the UK in the DR. At present, passports are sent to Jamaica and the process takes two weeks. The second goal is to forge ahead with the CRESO sports movement (Creando Suenos Olimpicos), in which businesspeople back young athletes with the potential to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. A third goal is to achieve an increase in trade relations. He mentioned the investment already made by Pinewood Studios in the Dominican movie-making company, Indomina, as an example of British investment.

Campos de Moya, who was interviewed by Listin Diario, was accompanied by the Dominican Ambassador in the UK, Federico Cuello. Cuello highlighted the recent success of the Dominican Three-Days Event in London, saying that the event was so successful they want to extend it to become a Dominican Week in London, and to celebrate events throughout the UK.

Also speaking during the interview, Kai Schoenhals, president of the Dominican Exporters Association, said that the UK is the fourth largest market for Dominican exports. He said the DR exported US$110 million to the UK last year, and imported US$100 million.
