The director of the PRD Election Information directorate, Hiddekel Morrison, revealed yesterday, Wednesday 23 May, that the "inconsistencies" that were found in the vote counting on the election acts carried out by the party did not change the outcome of Sunday's presidential elections which gave victory to Danilo Medina. "The inconsistencies found did not vary the final result which the election agency (JCE) published," said Morrison. He said that in some cases the acts that had been transmitted by the PRD delegates did not match the ones that were delivered to the JCE.

He gave the example of a case in Bonao, where according to the act delivered by the PRD, the Fuerza Nacional Progresista had five votes, and in the JCE it was shown that they had 55 votes. Morrison said that when the acts with these discrepancies were added up, the result was a difference of fewer than 2,000 votes. He also reported that it would be up to the PRD to determine the use that they would give to the computer equipment acquired to account for all of the voting acts during the last election process. "Quite probably they will use them to automate the party," he said, in a telephone interview with Diario Libre.
