The accused capo of the Cibao Cartel is dead. At least there is an official death certificate with his name and personal ID number (cedula) on it. According to a report in Listin Diario, Ivan Miguel Tineo Paulino, wanted on an extradition order in the United States and facing the magistrates of the Supreme Court to fight the extradition order, was able to purchase the death certificate. The capo, who also uses names such as Pedro Martinez Espina, and Miguel Benedicto Goris Gonzalez, was declared to have died of a heart attack in Santiago de los Caballeros on 27 June 2009. Legally dead, the defendant is being held in the Najayo Prison until the extradition hearings are concluded. He is requesting the court to reject his extradition order. Tineo Paulino is accused of belonging to a gang that stole drugs from other dealers for resale.
