Slugger Melky Cabrera, 27, turned out to be too much for the Marlins, helping the San Francisco Giants defeat the Miami team on Sunday. Cabrera is the Major League leader in hits. On Sunday he added four more to his total. "Melky was the one-man show this week," Dominican Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He hit everything we threw."

"It's a joke," leadoff hitter Gregor Blanco said of Cabrera's hot streak, laughing and shaking his head. "He's hitting line drives, line drives, line drives... Everybody is asking him how he's doing it," as reported in the Boston Herald.

During the game, Cabrera went 4 for 4 with a homerun and scored all three Giant runs. So the series against the Miami Marlins, he is 9 for 18 with five extra-base hits, three stolen bases and seven RBIs.

As reported in the Miami Herald, Cabrera's 73 hits are the most by a Giants player through the month of May since at least 1921, which is as far back as the records go for that particular stat.
