The PRD Political Commission was convened for tomorrow, Friday 1 June, according to Andres Bautista, interim party president, and Geanilda Vasquez, organizational secretary. The meeting will be held at the Hotel Santo Domingo, at 4pm, and according to Vasquez, if Miguel Vargas does not attend, Bautista and general secretary Orlando Jorge Mera will chair the meeting. They made it clear that according to the statutes the body can be summoned by one-third of its membership, and for that reason they delivered a document with 25 names. The agenda will deal with (1) Program and disciplinary resolutions and (2) Open comments. The president of the Control Commission of the PRD, Julio Marinez, told Diario Libre on Wednesday night, 30 May, that a request for calling a meeting of the Political Commission was illegal if promoted by a group of leading party members.
