The Chief of the National Police, Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez says that he believes that a 30-year sentence would not be not out of the question for Luis Rafael Diaz Mora, who killed a business partner over a debt last Tuesday, 29 May, in the middle of Bella Vista Mall in Santo Domingo. Polanco Gomez told Listin Diario reporter Elira Hernandez that they were working with Interpol to investigate the suspect who apparently has some legal proceedings pending in Spain, although he did not elaborate. He pointed out that the recent spate of tragic incidents, mentioning the woman in Bonao, the shooting of a man in San Francisco de Macoris by a five-year old and the killing in Bella Vista Mall are not related to criminal activities but were social phenomena "typical of Latin America."
