Casa de Teatro in Santo Domingo's Colonial City has announced the start of its annual jazz festival for Thursday, 14 June, continuing every Thursday through 26 July. The Santo Domingo Jazz Festival is a summer musical tradition that brings leading jazz musicians and singers to auditorium and Bar Cafe Teatro at Casa de Teatro. Aquiles Baez of Venezuela opens the festival on 14 June. Next is Band Fred Deshaief from Guadaloupe-France. On Thursday, 28 June, Wilfrido Vargas will join Sistema Temperado with Rafelito Mirabal for a memorable evening.
The festival continues in July with Spanish Soundfest on Thursday, 5 July, with the duo of Javier Infante & Jose Alberto Medina from the Canary Islands. On Thursday, 12 July, King of Cai from Andalucia; Thursday, 19 July the stage is set for Taxalapartas n Ttukunak (Basque Country). The closing evening is on Thursday, 26 July with Jaume Vilaseca Trio and Ravi Chary, from Barcelona. Tickets for the festival are on sale for RD$500 for events in the Cristobal de Llerena hall and RD$300 for the Cafe Teatro.
