On Calle Danae in Gazcue.
I stayed here for 4 nights and then went to Sosua for 2 days and when I came back they did not honor my reservation. I was pissed! Thats just the way things are done in DR, but luckily I made friends with this older German businessman who was friends with the Residencia owner and staying there for a month and he hooked me up with a nice place down the road. So things worked out for me again. But back to the reveiw of Residencia.
It cost 900 pesos per night which is about $27 dollars.
I chose a room on the second floor of a four floor hotel. My room was in the back and quiet. The room was a nice size with a queen size bed and cafe table and chair. Cable t.v. with 1 free porno channel, air conditioner and ceiling fan which I prefer to use over the a.c.
The hotel is clean and the good thing is it is chica friendly and they do not check i.d. which I like but I know some mongers don't due to safety and theft. They did provide a lock box for and extra charge.
They have two front desk employees that speak good english and will call taxis for you that give the best rates cause they have a special deal with the taxi company. The english speaking employees come in handy!
Especially when you have to call a chica that you met the day before to try and set up a date. There is a bodega out the door to the left and on the corner for cervesa, rum, soda, or sweets and around the corner to the right from the bodega is an internet cafe. Around the corner to the left and 2 blocks up is a cambio. I suggest that you bring dollars to change. The change guys on the street give a better rate and the hotel taxi driver knows the right change guy to take you to. Out the hotel to the right 2 blocks down and make a right and several blocks up is the best place to eat for sandwiches, cafe con leche and most anything else. It is called Villar. It is cheap and real good. I ate there every day sometimes twice a day, but they close around 10PM
In the outside lobby of the hotel is a good place to hang out to meet other guests. Not alot of chicas come through the hotel, but you really dont need that cause there are so many places to go to meet chicas in the Capitale!
Like the night school where there are tons of regular college age chicas hanging out on the corner and at the bodega just bullshitting with their friends from about 7PM-10PM every night except Sunday.
Its so easy to meet them and get a phone number and maybe go out on a date for dinner, drinks or to the disco?
A short taxi ride from calle danae is the Jaragua casino for those that have no game and there are many putas there!
I hope you enjoy my reveiw of Residencia. I recomend it. I gave a little extra!
I also liked the other hotel down the road that I sayed at called Danae and will give a seperate reveiw of that!
Happy mongering
