The Dominican Republic has a first class volleyball facility. Engineer Ramon Salcedo project manager for the Supervisory Office of Public Works of the Presidency (OISOE) said that the government has invested RD$60 million in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center Volleyball Pavilion to bring it up to par with world-class volleyball facilities. The pavilion, which was built for the 2003 Pan Am Games, will now host the FIVB Volleyball Grand Prix, an important preparatory event for the London Olympics.

The volleyball courts are air-conditioned, equipped with modern electronic scoreboards and have capacity for 5,400 fans. The OISOE was responsible for the improvements at the facility in time for the hosting of the Grand Prix this weekend.

During the event to take place 8, 9 and 10 June, the Dominican women's volleyball team will play Taiwan, Germany and the United States.
