First Lady Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez surprised her husband, President Leonel Fernandez yesterday, Tuesday June 5 when she went to see him as he was inaugurating the Juan Pablo Pina public hospital in San Cristobal after receiving her certificate as Vice President-elect.
The press reported that she made the unplanned visit to show him the certificate confirming her as Vice President-elect and she was accompanied only by her security detail.
El Caribe reports that the President was obviously surprised to see her, and they hugged and gave each other a kiss on the cheek.
Cedeno initially aspired to be the presidential candidate for the PLD, but did not participate in the primary in the end. She was later chosen as vice presidential candidate by Medina, a move that unified the party.
