Water Bill still pending in Congress

Senator Felix Nova Paulino of the province of Monsenor Nouel (Bonao) has called for the law to protect water sources in the Dominican Republic to be passed. Speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day yesterday, Wednesday 5 June, he called for the law to be passed to fulfill President-elect Danilo Medina's campaign promise "to do what has never been done before." He stressed the importance of the bill for the protection of natural resources. He said that there are 15 bills that need to be reformed for climate change adaptation. Paulino said it is embarrassing that the DR has not yet passed the law. He called for more awareness of the legislation and said that the Senate and Chamber of Deputies environment commissions would work together to accelerate the pending bills, as reported in Hoy.
