A festival of European cinema is being presented at the Cinemateca, the movie house at the Plaza de la Cultura in Santo Domingo from Wednesday, 6 June to Wednesday, 20 June. For the festival, 20 films from Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands will be shown, including many recent award winners. The festival is sponsored by the European Union delegation in the Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Culture.
The films include Bon Voyage (Netherlands, 2010, Margien Rogaar, director), Storm (Germany, 2009, Hans-Christian Schmid, director), Ensemble C'est Trop (France, 2010, Lea Fazer, director), Jenseits der Stille (Germany, 1996, Caroline Link, director), Un Giorno Perfetto (Italy, 2008, Ferzan Ozpetek, director), Todo lo que tu quieras (Spain, 2010, Achero Manas, director), Sonny Boy (Netherlands, 2010, Maria Peters, director), Les Mains en l'air (France, 2010, Romain Goupil, director), Chico y Rita (Spain, 2010, Fernando Trueba, director), L'Ultimo Bacio (Italy, 2001, Gabriele Muccino, director), Die Fremde (Germany, 2010, Feo Aladag, director), Gegen Die Wand (Germany, 2004, Fatih Akin, director), 80 Egunean (Spain, 2010, Jose Maria Goenaga, director), Joueuse (France, 2009, Caroline Bottaro, director), The Dinner Club (Netherlands, 2011, Robert Jan Westdijk, director), Baciami Ancora (Italy, 2011, Gabriele Muccino, director), Lila Lila (Germany, 2009, Alain Gsponer, director), Tambien la lluvia (Spain, 2010, Iciar Bollain, director), 18 comidas (Spain 2010, Jorge Coira, director), Giulia Non Esce la Sera (Italy 2009, Giuseppe Piccioni, director). Tickets are RD$50.
