The currency of East Africa's biggest economy appreciated as much as 1.4 percent to 84.35 per dollar, the biggest one-day gain since Dec. 16, and was trading 1 percent stronger at 84.70 by 5:19 pm in Nairobi, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
