Dominican Olympics-gold medal hopeful, Luguelin Santos, 18, showed his stuff at the Diamond League competition in New York, finishing with a time of 45.24 and defeating Athens and Beijing Olympics winner, Jeremy Wariner from the USA (45.3) for the finish.

The Diamond League reported on the race that four men came off the second turn together in the men's 400m, but it was Luguelin Santos who emerged from the crowd halfway down the homestretch to take the win in 45.24. Jeremy Wariner, USA, held on for second in 45.30 with Christopher Brown, Bahamas, third in 45.35. Other competitors were Calvin Smith, USA, 45.44, Tabarie Henry, US Virgin Islands, 45.46, Jermaine Gonzales, Jamaica, 45.53.7, and Oscar Pistorius, South Africa 46.14.
