The recently installed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice, Mariano German, has given himself a salary increase at a time when most of the judges in the judicial system are complaining of their low salaries. German raised his salary by a little over RD$86,000 a month to RD$423,000. The increase alone is more than 14 minimum wages. In January, Mariano German, according to El Caribe, received the same salary as the outgoing Chief Justice, Jorge Subero Isa, RD$336,960. However, in May the new salary of RD$423,000 was reported. This salary is RD$125,000 higher than the next highest salary on the Supreme Court.
