Whilst handing over computer equipment to the Emergency Operations Center (COE), the US ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Raul Yzaguirre said that if US citizens continued to be robbed along the main roads around Las Americas International Airport (AILA) he would have to issue a new warning but this time with more authority.
As quoted in Listin Diario, he said that the next step would be to issue more frequent warnings while expressing hope that the situation could be resolved before then. Izaguirre said that he understood that the National Police had detained some people in the area who had been following and robbing people who had left the airport.
The ambassador recently issued a warning to US citizens on the embassy website that attacks were being carried out on people leaving AILA.
