Dominican electricity distribution company EDESUR announced yesterday, Tuesday 12 June, that it had suspended electricity services to the RNN and Telecentro television channels for non-payment of their bills for the last three months.

According to EDESUR, the TV stations owed RD$36.4 million immediately with an additional debt of RD$228 million.

Listin Diario reports that EDESUR says that the last payment they made was for RD$1.7 million on 9 February of this year but that there had been no further payments since then.

They add that this was not the first time they had suspended electricity services to these stations with which they had tried to reach payment agreements. Both stations are now off the air.
