Follow the Dominican Republic's women volleyball team (ranked ninth in the world) as it prepares for the London Olympics by competing in the FIVB Volleyball Grand Prix. After the competition in Santo Domingo, where the DR finished third behind the USA and Germany, the team will be in Japan and Taiwan for new rounds.

The next stop is Komaki, Japan from 15-17 June. The DR plays against Japan (15 June at 18:20), Thailand (16 June at 15:20) and Puerto Rico (17 June at 15:00).

Next the women's team will be in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for a final round, from 22-24 June. The Dominican team will play Italy on 22 June at 16:00, Poland on 23 June at 19:00, and Taiwan on 24 June at 17:00.

The Dominican Republic has been a regular participant in the FIVB World Grand Prix since 2004, with two eighth-place finishes as their best results. Last year the world No. 9 finished 12th and booked their place in this year's edition through the 2011 Pan American Cup where they finished second to Brazil, beating world No. 1 USA in the process. They also finished fourth at the Pan-American Games in Guadalajara, with the United States gaining revenge in the bronze-medal playoff. Gold also eluded them in the NORCECA Championship where their US rivals beat them again. They rounded out the year by finishing eighth at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup in Japan registering wins over Kenya, Germany, Serbia and South Korea while Bethania de la Cruz topped the scorers throughout the tournament in a monumental effort from the individual.
