View Full Version : Paloma Herrera and Viengsay Valdez to dance gala

Argentinean Paloma Herrera, who is the principal dancer of the American Ballet Theater, and Viengsay Valdes of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba will be in Santo Domingo for the 6-7 July World Dance Stars Gala at the National Theater. The event is a benefit. Also coming are Armenian Tigran Mikayelya (Bavarian State Ballet, Munich, Germany) and Amar Ramasar of the New York City Ballet, Leo Mujic, William Forsythe, Bejart Ballet (of Lausanne, Switzerland), Rubi Pronk (Croatia), Rainer Krensteter (Berlin), Maria Yakovleva (Russian living in Vienna) and Italian Stefania Figliosi (Aterballeto). The program includes classical and traditional dance performances. The international dancers will be accompanied by leading Dominican dancers, members of the National Dominican Ballet under Marianella Sallent.

One of the performances of the evenings is the dance, "Yo Si Puedo," created to stimulate a love of art in children with special needs.

Tickets are for sale at Uepa Tickest at the National Theater box office for RD$1,200, RD$800 and RD$600. The event is a benefit for the Fundacion Nido para Angeles that works with children with cerebral palsy. Shows are at 8:30pm.
