Senate passes millions in loans

The PLD-majority Senate approved four loans yesterday, Wednesday 13 June, including one for US$216.8 million for a sewage treatment plant in Santiago. The works will be carried out by Consorcio Sanesan, contracted by the Santiago Water Corporation (Coraasan). Another loan is for US$10 million, granted by the Inter-American Development Bank for a food security program to be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture. Other loans passed by the Senate include a EUR9.2 million loan with the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) to be implemented in rural areas in the north, central and eastern areas of the country. Another for EUR11.4 million loan guaranteed by Spain will go towards co-financing of food security through IFAD, as reported in El Dia.
