The Weather Department (Onamet) reported that yesterday, Thursday 14 June, the temperature reached 35 degrees or more in Santiago Rodriguez, Loma de Cabrera, Sanchez, Villa Riva, Rio San Juan, Gaspar Hernandez (Espaillat province), Arroyo Barril airport in Samana, Santiago airport and Jimani.
At the same time the department warns that temperatures will stay high due to the fact that the winds are coming from the ESE and recommended people to drink plenty of fluids, wear light colored clothes and not expose themselves to direct sunlight from 11 am to 4 pm.
They said that there is likely to be rain or thunderstorms on Saturday in the northeast, southeast, central regions, southwest and the border regions. A tropical wave is in neighborhood. There may also be high waves on the Caribbean coast so they advised small craft to stay close to shore.
