The Vice President-elect, current First Lady Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez will be joining the select circle of 26 members of the ruling PLD party's Political Committee once she is sworn in as Vice President on 16 August 2012, reports Listin Diario. The newspaper says it will be the first time that a member of the PLD has moved from being a simple base committee member to sitting on the Central Committee executive body. President Leonel Fernandez is also a member of the committee.
The promotion is being made because the by laws of the PLD establish that the President and Vice President of the Republic are members in full right of the Political Committee for the duration of their term in office.
