Online newspaper Acento observes discrepancies in the figures provided by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and a lack of detailed information. In an analysis of the past election, the newspaper reports that the JCE never reported the details for the electoral tables, despite having done so in past years.
The report asks why the JCE decided to create 35 additional voting stations in the National District when there were 20,849 fewer voters than in the congressional and municipal elections.
The report also says that the JCE reported that 6,504,943 people were registered to vote, or 6,176,338 when taking into account the 328,605 who were registered to vote abroad. "That means that between 2010 and 2012, only 59,941 new voters were added.
The voting list in 2010 had 6,116,397 people registered to vote. But Acento wonders: "Why then did the JCE add 1,220 voting stations nationwide?" It observes there are no detailed information on the results of the voting stations.
Acento observers that the Headquarters for Electoral Information of the opposition party PRD on 22 May (two days after the election) had only received the data for 12,000 of the 14,470 voting centers that the JCE reported operated on the election day.
