The Ministry for Public Health is advising the public to stop buying medicine in the streets, via the Internet or from establishments that have not been authorized by the Ministry and said that their main priority was the health of the Dominican population.

They said that buying medicines in this way could cause health problems and highlighted the prohibition of the manufacture, marketing, sales and consumption of a product known as Desintrix-Plus which has not been approved and poses a health risk to its consumers.

They said it is being sold illegally and being promoted as a detoxifier, purifier, fat removal agent, blood purifier, nutrition supplement and to combat constipation, despite the fact that none have been endorsed by any competent authority.
