View Full Version : Spanish government commends Freddy Ginebra and Ramos Vicente

The government of Spain decorated cultural promoter Freddy Ginebra and La Sirena megastore founder, Spanish immigrant Juan Ramos Vicente with the order of Isabel La Catolica, official cross rank. The award recognizes persons that are Spaniards or of other nationalities that make a significant contribution to improving friendship and cooperation ties with Spain.

The medals were delivered at the Spanish embassy.

Ginebra was recognized for his work as an artist, writer and promoter of relations between Spain and the Dominican Republic. "I am at odds between being emotional and grateful," he said. He explained that when Ambassador Jaume Segura Socias called to tell him he would receive the decoration, tears filled his eyes. "I was surprised," he said.

Ramos recalled he had arrived 45 years ago to the DR and was seventh of the employees in La Sirena. In the Dominican Republic where he would marry his Dominican wife, Elisa.
