The Organization of American States (OAS) has accepted a request from the Dominican Republic to analyze the crisis created after the removal of President Fernando Lugo in Paraguay. An extraordinary session of the OAS will convene today, Tuesday 26 June at 2:30pm, reports the DR's permanent representative in Washington. Ambassador Roberto Saladin sent messages to Jose Miguel Insulza, the OAS secretary general and president of the OAS permanent council Leonidas Rojas Bautista calling for the immediate convening of the session of the OAS General Assembly. Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso has called the Dominican ambassador in Paraguay for a consultation. The Dominican Republic was the only one of the 35 countries in the organization to call for a meeting to discuss the situation in Paraguay.
