The National Consumer Rights Protection Institute (ProConsumidor) has expressed support for the call from the National Confederation of Poultry Distributors (CONADIPOLLO) that people should refrain from eating chicken as a protest against the high prices, as reported in Hoy.
Altagracia Paulino, head of ProConsumidor, said that she respected the rights of the people because at the moment there are no reasons for the price of chicken to be so high. She said that the government should authorize chicken imports to force lower prices and that the public should eat alternatives such as vegetables, beef and pork.
