The organizers of the Miss World pageant in the Dominican Republic have chosen Sally Aponte to replace Jenny Blanco. Blanco had to stand down because of age restrictions. Aponte will travel to Ordos in the Chinese autonomous province of Inner Mongolia, for the contest that will take place on 16 August. It will be transmitted live to 129 countries. Aponte was the runner up in the Miss World Dominicana contest. She is 20 years old, 5'8 tall, and is a professional model and TV program host. She is the national bodybuilding champion in the bikini category, and a student of cooking arts. She speaks English and her native Spanish. She also does social work with the Disney World Volunteers team.
