The Santiago Water and Sewer Corporation (Coraasan) has informed the people of the city of Santiago that they are operating with a deficit of 27,000,000 gallons of water per day, and this is forcing the Department of Networks to impose a rationing program and reduce hours of service. Santiago has a 134 MGD demand and a production of 107 MGD, and the low water levels in the Tavera-Bao Reservoir are exacerbating the problem. Coraasan director Hamlet Otanez has met with community leaders and his technicians in a bid to improve water supplies to the southern areas of the city. The water agency is maintaining its call for everyone to save water.
