The Higher Electoral Tribunal (TSE) has declared the resolutions adopted by the PRD Political Commission that is headed by the Hipolito Mejia faction of the party to be devoid of any value or judicial effect. The resolutions, which suspended Miguel Vargas Maldonado as the president of the PRD together with three of his followers, also expelled seven of his supporters. The high court annulled the convening of the meeting of the PRD entity, which was issued on 1 June. The judges Mariano Rodriguez who presided, Mabel Feliz Baez, John Guiliani, Jose Manuel Hernandez Peguero and Marino Mendoza agreed with Vargas Maldonado's petition. The tribunal released the minutes of the process against 44 PRD leaders because of a lack of interest by the plaintiff.

They also declared the forced intervention issued by the PRD, represented by Vargas Maldonado, of Andres Bautista as good and valid. They also ratified the flaw pronounced in the hearing against the defendants and the forced intervention, because of a lack of appearance despite having been properly notified. The tribunal said that for the convocation of an extraordinary meeting to deal with inherent issues, one third of the membership could only convene if the president, as well as the secretary general, refused to call the meeting.
