As part of the activities to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Juan Bosch, a survey was held on the topic of "Social Climate and its Influence on the Development of Democratic Awareness". The Juan Bosch Foundation and the Salome Urena Teaching Institute carried out a study of the education sector involving 4,650 students aged between the ages of 15 and 18.

The results were presented by Adriana Marte, which showed that 82% of students wanted to go on to university but were concerned that they would not get a job when they finished and may not finish the course due to lack of funds.

59% of students said they were proud to be Dominican but notwithstanding 58% did not want to live in the country. 60% of students put effort into their studies whereas 52% said they were just there to pass time.

The study also established that 27% of the students were working, even though some were minors, in places such as betting parlors.

Matias Bosch, president of the Juan Bosch Foundation highlighted the importance of the research for understanding how to promote education based on democratic values in schools throughout the country.
