Residents of Bonao will hold a peaceful march today, Friday 29 June in protest against the violence affecting the area. The march will start in Duarte Park at 4pm and will be attended by the congressional and municipal authorities, social and community organizations and religious cultural and sporting bodies.
In raids led by the regional director of the Cibao Central Police, Francisco Lopez, 150 people have been arrested and the police confiscated four pistols, three revolvers, four handmade guns, two shotguns, three submachine guns, fourteen knives, 68 motorcycles and three vehicles.
The raids were carried out in the areas of Prosperidad, Brisas del Yuna, Los Transformadores, Santa Rosa, San Jose, Ensanche Libertad, Juma, Bejucal, Los Quemados and the municipalities of Piedra Blanca and Maimon.
In less than two months more than 15 people have lost their lives due to the violence.
