Tomorrow, Wednesday 4 July, Public Health officials will embark on a vaccination campaign that seeks to immunize 426,000 babies between the ages of two and four months against rotovirus, the cause of severe diarrhea in children. According to the Minister of Public Health, Bautista Rojas Gomez, this type of diarrhea is the second leading cause of death in children worldwide. The orally administered vaccine is free. Rojas Gomez said that the addition of the Rotovirus vaccine to Immunization Program has been one of the main investments in prevention and doubles the amount of money spent on vaccinations in the Dominican Republic.
