The Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) announced yesterday, Monday 2 July, that repairs on the 42-inch pipe would be finished today and that water will begin to flow once more to all the areas of the National District and the province of Santo Domingo that have been experiencing water shortages for nearly a month. The CAASD has changed three valves on the 42-inch pipe and this will provide better service to about 33 different areas. Water will be supplied to most of the city on alternate days, since the current situation is that the CAASD has a deficit of 7.5 cubic meters of water per second or 24 million gallons a day, and has no choice but to ration water, according to Listin Diario.
