The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) announced the suspension of classes yesterday, Wednesday 4 July for the second day running following the protests that erupted over tuition and fees hikes at the state university.
Mateo Aquino Febrillet said that the University Council would be meeting at 9am today, Thursday 5 July, to deal with the ruckus created yesterday by students protesting the fee increases. He said that the UASD needed to readjust the fee schedule. He pointed out that today's fees are lower than what students paid in 1967 when adjusted for inflation.
