The Ministry of Foreign Relations, via the Dominican Embassy in Colombia, has advised that a Dominican engineer, Jose Rafael Sanchez Valerio has been kidnapped. The kidnapping reportedly happened Friday, 29 June around 3pm and has been confirmed by his family and the Colombian police. The police said that the kidnappers are asking for US$28,000 as a ransom.
The Colombian police, army and anti kidnapping units are working to look for the Dominican, although as yet there are no developments.
