The Emergency Operations Center (COE) announced a green alert on 5 July warning of heavy rains in the National District and nine provinces due to a tropical wave passing over the country.
They told residents in La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macoris, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, San Jose de Ocoa and Santo Domingo, and others who lived in high risk areas close to rivers, to take precautions for possible flooding.
They also warned that both the Caribbean and Atlantic oceans would be heavy and small craft should stay close to shore.
