Yesterday, Monday 9 July the Attorney General of the Republic received two Dominicans who had been extradited from the United States. Eddy Bismarck Nunez Garrido, and Fernando Antonio Burgos Rojas were presented to the media during a press conference at the Attorney General's offices, headed by AG Radhames Jimenez Pena, Gisela Cueto, in charge of Extraditions at the Attorney General's office, Luisa Liranzo, the District Attorney for Santiago, and the Deputy District Attorney for the National District, Dante Castillo. Magistrate Cueto said that the delivery of the two prisoners once again shows the reciprocity that exists between the Dominican Republic and the United States in these cases, along with other countries such as Spain that have never refused an extradition.
Nunez Garrido, who was requested in extradition in October 2010 and whose extradition was authorized in November that same year, has an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the judge for Execution of Sentences of the National District. Nunez Garrido is to serve a 20-year jail sentence imposed in absentia for the murder of Francisco Alberto Andujar Tejada that occurred in August 1996. And Burgos Rojas is wanted by the District Attorney of Santiago in order to process him for the murder of his wife, Chaury Noelia Veras Gutierrez, who he killed in the community of Licey al Medio in Santiago in 2008.
