Brazilian Minister of Education, Aloizio Mercadante met with President-elect Danilo Medina yesterday in Brasilia for talks on how Brazil's educational programs could benefit the Dominican Republic. One innovative program, Pronatec focuses on training professionals and technicians with skills for quick entry to the job market. Medina and his team listened to presentations on programs that have helped improve the quality of classes offered to 56 million students in Brazil. A press release from the Danilo Medina office mentions the program "More Education," that adds lessons in environment, sport and culture, the arts, technology, health and research in sciences to regular school programs.
"We are very interested in collaborating with the new Dominican government, and place all the accumulated experience in Brazil to back the new programs that can be implemented in the Dominican education system as of 16 August," said the Brazilian minister, as reported by the Medina office.
