The Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP) alerts that they will begin an operation over the next few days to confiscate those firearms for which licenses have not been renewed.

They said that their records show that more than 88,000 people have weapons with expired licenses and their names are listed in the Ministry website www.mip.gov.do (http://www.mip.gov.do)

The Minister of Interior and Police, Jose Ramon Fadul, warned that the list of those with expired licenses will be published in the national press shortly, and that to renew them the owner would have to do the anti-doping test again.

However, in order to make things easier, those with expired licenses 2 years out of date will only have to pay a fine for two years.

He reminded shotgun users that their licenses are permanent and they only need to pay to for the plastic license itself if it has been lost or has expired.
