A man who served as the executive vice president of the National Business Council (Conep) for more than 30 years died on Tuesday, 10 July in Santo Domingo, after failing to recover from a stroke. "The business sector is mourning. Frank was one of the most dignified representatives of the sector and made great contributions to the country's development," said Manuel Diez Cabral, current president of the National Business Council.

He said that Castillo leaves an important legacy that should serve as an example to future generations.

Castillo was a graduate of law and economy from the UASD, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

He also was a founder and served on the board of directors of INTEC University, one of the first members of the Academy of Sciences, and represented the Dominican Republic at the International Labor Organization meetings for over 15 years.

Mourners can pay tribute at the Blandino Funeral Home, with mass set for 2pm and the burial at 3pm at the Cristo Redentor Cemetery today, Thursday 12 July.
