Consumer organizations that called for yesterday, Tuesday 17 July, to be a day when the country should not eat chicken, say that their call was answered.
However, those who sell chicken in the National District say that sales were down around 60% of normal.
The director of the Institute of Consumer Rights (Pro-Consumidor) said that Dominicans have the right to the best possible prices on essential foodstuffs and that they would continue to negotiate with the chicken providers to reach an agreement on the price.
The price is currently between RD$50.00 and RD$55.00 a pound.
